Texas State cancer-surviving soccer coach raises money for fighting ovarian cancer

For every goal that the Texas State women's soccer team scored this season, donations were made to Goals2Cure.

The Texas State women's soccer head coach has presented a $4,531 check to benefit a Texas Oncology Foundation scholarship. The scholarship assists women battling ovarian cancer in Central Texas.

Texas State women's soccer head coach Kat Conner herself battled this type of cancer back in 2015. After beating it, she founded Goals2Cure to raise money for ovarian cancer prevention, detection and treatment.

"I want to bring awareness to ovarian cancer," Conner said. "I want people to catch it sooner, and not only that, but I really want people to have the hope that they too can battle and fight this disease."

For every goal that Conner's team scored this season, donations were made to Goals2Cure.

"It was fun," Conner said. "It really gave them an extra added boost and motivation to score goals."

The team plans to do the same fundraiser next season.
