On Nov. 9, members of the Round Rock City Council approved a $200 million, 1 million-square-foot development, similar to The Domain in Austin, which will be called The District.

The 65 acres of land for the project was acquired by Mark IV Capital, a privately held real estate firm founded in 1974. According to their website, “The preliminary intent for the site is to combine a mixture of office, residential, hospitality, and retail uses to create a dense, mixed-use environment, a first for the City of Round Rock.”

The shopping center and residential community will be located between Interstate Highway 35 and Texas 45.

The City of Round Rock is approximately 35.9 square miles with a population of around 120,890, reported in 2016. Known for its outdoor activities and historic sites, the development will bring in excitement and new opportunities to the growing city.

According to a report from our news partners at the Austin American-Statesman, the deployment is said to start next year.
