Police: Alligator seen in Del Valle pond
13000 block of Thome Valley Road

DEL VALLE, Texas -- Police have issued a warning following reports of an alligator in a pond in Del Valle.

Police say the alligator has been spotted in and near the pond in the 13000 block of Thome Valley Drive just off of Alomar Cove near Ross Road.

Residents have posted signs warning about the alligator. There is also a sign saying that the area is an alligator habitat.

Police shared the following safety tips from Texas Parks and Wildlife:

  • Don't feed them
  • Don't get close to them
  • Don't swim or wade where they are
  • Don't let pets near them
  • Don't agitate or tease them
  • Don't try to catch one
  • Don't approach an alligator's nest
  • Do observe from a safe distance on land
  • Do discourage others from feeding them
