Person killed in crash Thursday identified as Round Rock ISD teacher

Police have not released any information about the victim.

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Officials have identified the person who was killed in a crash in Round Rock Thursday.

Round Rock police said the crash happened on northbound Interstate 35 Exit 253 for U.S. 79/Palm Valley Boulevard.

A Round Rock official told KVUE Friday that Michael Shaheen, 67, was the person killed in the crash.

An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.

The Round Rock Independent School District (ISD) confirmed Friday that Shaheen was a math teacher for Round Rock High School, saying to parents, "We are deeply saddened to inform you that one of our teachers, Dr. Michael Shaheen, passed away yesterday evening. Mr. Shaheen, who taught Algebra II and Math Models, was beloved by staff and students alike. He had been a teacher with Round Rock ISD since 2003. The entire Round Rock High family is reeling from this unexpected loss and we extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family."
