15-year-old killed after being hit by car as he was crossing I-35, Austin police say

Police said a car was traveling northbound on I-35 when it hit the victim as he was attempting to cross I-35.

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — Police have identified the person who was killed late Saturday night after a crash in the 14000 block of North Interstate Highway 35.

The Austin Police Department said the auto vs. pedestrian collision happened at about 10:54 p.m. Saturday. At that time, the victim's injuries were reported as life-threatening, but just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday, police said the victim died from his injuries at an area hospital. 

Tuesday police identified the person killed as Cesar Saunders, who was just 15 years old.

Police said the driver was traveling northbound on I-35 when the car hit Saunders as he was attempting to cross I-35.

The driver was transported to an area hospital and was later admitted into the ICU.
