AUSTIN — A small Cessna plane is intact and landed safely in a field a mile south of Austin Bergstrom International Airport after initial reports of a crash Friday afternoon, according to the Austin Fire Department.

Just after 1:45 p.m., Austin Fire said a plane crashed just short of ABIA, at the intersection of Haney Farms and Elroy Road, and that crews were searching the area. When crews found the plane, Austin Fire reported that the plane was upright and "appeared intact." Austin Fire said that two people were seen walking toward the road.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services reported that the two people were found at the scene uninjured.

Officials with ABIA said they can not confirm if the plane was arriving or departing at the time of the landing.

Austin Fire said the Department of Public Safety is investigating.
