SAN MARCOS, Texas -- A man identifying as "Officer Robert Duggin" is reportedly calling San Marcos residents Tuesday morning and demanding money to clear a fake warrant, according to the city.

Multiple residents have reported that they were called from 512-566-7496 by a man who identified himself as "Officer Robert Duggin" with badge number "486." He reportedly told the residents that a warrant had been issued for their arrest for failure to appear for a jury summons in the court of "Hays County Municipal Judge Elizabeth Walker."

The caller reportedly demanded that the residents "go to CVS and purchase a prepaid card that could be transmitted to the court immediately."

The City of San Marcos is taking this opportunity to remind residents that the city will never call a customer for payment over the phone. If residents suspect they are speaking to a scammer they should immediately hang up.
