AUSTIN — A man injured himself after breaking out of a window to escape a fire at a North Austin duplex Thursday morning, Austin Fire officials said. Two people have reportedly been displaced.
Just before 10:30 a.m., the Austin Fire Department said that the fire was located in the 10600 block of Golden Quail Drive, near Cook Elementary School.
Officials said they could see the fire coming from the duplex when they arrived.
At 11:15 a.m., Austin Fire said the fire was under control.
Authorities said a neighbor helped the man escape from the duplex, and he is doing OK.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. One person from each side of the duplex has been displaced.
AFD said the fire resulted in $100,000 worth of damage to the structure and $50,000 worth of damage to the contents inside the duplex.
