AUSTIN — The man accused of plotting to kill his own father is due in court Monday
Nicholas Shaughnessy is charged with "solicitation to commit murder" after his father, Ted Shaughnessy, was shot in his home in March. According to warrants Nicholas Shaughnessy told investigators he was having financial trouble and owed his mother about $30,000. She loaned him money to start a day-trading business, warrants said. He had apparently gotten into an argument with his mother about money the week of the murder.
Nicholas Shaughnessy and another man connected to the case -- Johnny Leon -- are in jail.
Nicholas Shaughnessy's wife, Jaclyn Edison, is also charged with conspiracy. She is expected in court Monday as well. She was released from jail on bond after giving information to police.
