Man shot, killed while hunting in Llano County identified

Llano County dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a person had been shot while he and another male were hunting near County Road 306.

LLANO, Texas — Multiple agencies are investigating the death of a man – who was allegedly shot while hunting in Llano County, police said Monday. 

On Thursday, the deceased was identified as 38-year-old Micheal Eugene Cooke of Kingsland.

According to the Llano County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 7:35 p.m. Sunday, Llano County dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a person had been shot while he and another male were hunting near County Road 306.

Police said deputies responded and located the men at 7:55 p.m. and confirmed the victim was deceased.

Llano County officials told KVUE Monday the men were hunting hogs. 

The incident is being investigated by Llano County investigators, Texas Parks and Wildlife Wardens, Texas Ranger and the Llano County District Attorney’s Office, LCSO said.

No charges have been filed for this incident, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing. There is not any other information is available at this time.
