Homeless camp fire under law office causes more than $200K in damages

According to AFD, the cause of the fire was "improperly discarded smoking material under the building."

AUSTIN, Texas — A homeless camp that was in the crawl space underneath a law office caught fire on Thursday morning, causing $150,000 in structural damage and $50,000 in content damage, according to the Austin Fire Department.

The fire took place at 1607 Nueces Street at around 5 a.m. According to AFD, the cause of the fire was "improperly discarded smoking material under the building."

No injuries were reported.
