People visiting and living in Hays County will be able to stay out late and drink past the midnight hour from now on.
The Hays County Commissioner's Court approved an order Tuesday that allows restaurants and bars with alcohol licenses to sell mixed drinks, wine, and beer until 2 a.m. in unincorporated areas of the county that aren't designated as "dry".
Before the ruling, bars and restaurants could only serve alcohol until midnight.
The order is effective immediately.
The county said they hope the order levels out the playing field for businesses that have had to compete with others that haven't had time restrictions.
