SAN MARCOS — SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Float Fest 2018 is a go.

Float Fest and The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court have reached a settlement to proceed with the tubing event and music festival, allowing a permit for 20,000 attendees.

KVUE reported in March that Float Fest organizers requested from Guadalupe County commissioners a permit to host 30,000 people in 2018 -- double the amount in 2017. Commissioners voted 3-2 against that request.

When KVUE asked Float Fest for confirmation on the settlement for 20,000 guests, the founder gave the following statement:

Yes. I am excited to announce that the 5th annual Float Fest will take place on July 21st and 22nd. Our lineup and tickets will go on sale next week. It's our best lineup yet. In regards to the lawsuit, we spent over 6 months working with the county to ensure a safe event which is evident in our 200 plus page permit application. We do believe we are entitled to 30,000 attendance and followed the statute to the letter of the law. However, in the spirit of being a good partner with the county we decided to settle the lawsuit. Look forward to seeing you at the ranch in July!

Float Fest is an annual music festival on the San Marcos River at Cool River Ranch southeast of San Marcos. The festival will take place July 21 to 22, and tickets will go on sale on the Float Fest website.

Float Fest officials told KVUE this year's festival will be the best lineup to date.

"We will have bigger stages, bigger artists, and a bigger layout," Float Fest Founder Marcus Federman said. "We have spent a significant amount of time and resources to make sure the festival is safe, clean, and fun."
