AUSTIN, Texas — If you think you are pretty quick in your kayak, this race could be right up your alley.

A kayak race next month on Lady Bird Lake will benefit Austin Community College students.

The Riverbat Paddle Battle will be at the Rowing Dock on the lake on Saturday, April 6.

All of the money raised goes to the Austin Community College Foundation, which supports students through scholarships and workforce development programs.

This academic school year, the foundation gave back $1 million.

"The student success stories of scholarship recipients are amazing," said Cassandra Wiggins with the foundation. "We produce those records on an annual basis."

American Constructors is organizing the race.

"We're very excited about this being the first kayak race in Austin," said Marty Burger of American Constructors CEO. "We've created this event to become a way for the community to come out and support ACC."

The race will have courses for every skill level.

There will be a crawfish boil, food trucks and live music after the race.

Registration is open and you can sign up here.
