AUSTIN — The Republican National Committee made their way to Austin Wednesday to discuss where the 2020 Republican National Convention would be held.
In the decision between Charlotte, N.C., or Las Vegas, the RNC selection committee chose Charlotte to host the 2020 RNC convention, according to KVUE's sister station WCNC.
According to The New York Times, North Carolina leaders were divided on whether they should host the convention or not.
"The leaders of North Carolina’s largest city found on Monday that they and their constituents were sharply divided on whether Charlotte ought to host this particular convention, which will presumably decide whether to nominate President Trump for re-election," New York Times said.
Las Vegas' bid to be the host was put forward without support form local government, The New York Times reported.
