HAYS COUNTY, Texas -- The city of Buda is tweaking its rules to make families safer and homes more energy efficient.
The City Council adopted new building codes this week for new construction. Some changes include having the same requirements for carbon monoxide alarms as smoke alarms, new standards to address indoor air quality, and higher energy efficiency requirements.
The updated codes take effect October 1, 2018.
