Days after a swimmer went missing in Lake Travis, officials found a body at Hi Line Road Tuesday morning.
Family and friends of Olman Ramirez, 25, say they found his body in Lake Travis. That identification was confirmed Thursday by the Travis County Sheriff's Department.
Travis County Sheriff Deputies have been searching for Olman Ramirez since he was last seen Friday evening.
Authorities said Ramirez jumped in to help a swimmer, and never came back up.
Kristen Dark with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the searchers had been using sonar to search deep water, and planned to search along the shoreline Tuesday.
Ramirez family diligently searched since he went missing. Tuesday morning they rented a pontoon boat, and Ramirez father, and girlfriend say they found his body.
Cynthia Ramos has known Ramirez since the 3rd grade. She's been his girlfriend for more than 5 years.
"I saw like his boxer, and I saw like his head, and I just started yelling to his father, like that's our boy,” said Ramos.
Ramos said their hearts are broken.
"I was happy that I found him, but at the same time I was sad because my hope was that he was alive,” said Ramos.
Kristen Dark with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said Ramirez went missing in the channel near Starnes Island.
"We spent a lot of time searching that deep water trying to find him over there,” said Dark.
But Ramirez family said they found him near the South Shore Marina, about a mile away.
Cecyll Padilla had been friends with Ramirez since they were 15
"He tried to save his friend, but it didn't go the same way for him,” said Padilla.
Padilla and Ramirez went to high school together in Austin.
"He was like a brother to me,” said Padilla.
Dozens of people gathered at the shore Tuesday to show their support.
"He had a lot of friends, he was really friend, he was just a kind guy,” said Padilla.
A kind man, who will be greatly missed.
"I really love him,” said Ramos.
According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, Ramirez was the designated driver of a rented party boat and swam after a swimmer in distress. Another party boat was able to rescue the distressed swimmer, but Ramirez went underwater and did not resurface. He was last seen in the channel area near Starns Island.
