Bicyclist struck, killed by dump truck in Taylor

According to the Taylor Police Department, the bicyclist was run over and died on scene.

TAYLOR, Texas -- A bicyclist was killed Monday in Taylor, Texas, after being struck by a dump truck on North Main Street, police said.

According to the Taylor Police Department, officials responded around 3:06 p.m. to the collision at the intersection at Sixth and North Main Street. Police said the bicyclist suffered massive internal and head injuries after being ran over. Michael Webb, 40, of Taylor died on scene.

Officials said the dump truck was heading eastbound on West Sixth Street and was making a right turn on Main Street when the accident occurred. The bicyclist was northbound on the sidewalk and had just entered the crosswalk. Police said the driver was a 24-year-old man from Hutto.

The Texas DPS responded and assisted the Taylor Police Department. Investigation is ongoing.

Police said this is Taylor's first fatal collision of 2018.
