California man accused of selling counterfeit Honda generators in Bastrop

Bastrop deputies said he allegedly removed branding stickers from off-brand, Chinese generators and replaced them with Honda stickers.

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas — A man has been arrested for allegedly selling counterfeit Honda generators in Bastrop, Texas.

The California man was arrested by the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday.

Bastrop deputies said Angelo Arias allegedly removed branding stickers from off-brand, Chinese generators and replaced them with Honda stickers.

Arias would then allegedly sell the generators, and deputies believe that he may have also been counterfeiting other types of tools or equipment.

The investigation started during a traffic stop when deputies discovered two Honda-branded generators in Arias vehicles. Deputies said they were led back to a motel and to a California cargo van where they found Honda markings, equipment to remove decals and 10 more Chinese, off-brand generators.
