Austin lights up, makes some noise for nurses to celebrate National Nurses Week

Austin Mayor Steve Adler asked residents to celebrate our nurses and medical workers.

AUSTIN, Texas — To kick off the beginning of National Nurses Week, Austin Mayor Steve Adler called on all Austinites to celebrate our health care heroes.

On Wednesday, May 6, at 7 p.m., Mayor Adler asked people to step outside, clap, bang pots and pans and play musical instruments. 

In addition, Austin buildings lit up in blue on Wednesday evening, including the Fairmont, which displayed a special nurses sign.

National Nurses Week runs May 6-12.
