Authorities have officially ruled the death of the Austin bombing suspect as a suicide, officials confirmed March 26.
Mark Conditt, 23, of Plugerville is accused of setting off a string of explosives in the Austin-area during the month of March. On March 21, authorities began to close in on him to take him into custody. He pulled his SUV over into a ditch on the side of a road in Williamson County, and as officers approached, police said he detonated a bomb.
Conditt's cause of death has been ruled as "multiple penetrating shrapnel injuries" as a result of the "bomb exploding by his chest," according to Williamson County Justice of the Peace Dain Johnson. The manner of death has been ruled a suicide.
