AUSTIN -- Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of Kathy Blair, a choir director killed in December, but they said there could be more suspects in the case.
On Saturday, police announced they had Shawn Gant-Benalcazar and Timothy Parlin in custody in connection to Blair's murder.
Police are remaining tight-lipped as the investigation continues, and Blair's neighbors said they are somewhat relieved and have taken measures to protect themselves.
James Kenji Yukawa, who lives across the street from Blair's Northwest Austin home, has four barking dogs and an alarm system to keep him safe.
"As soon as all that happened, I had a new security system installed and armed myself as much as I could at home," Yukawa said.
Investigators said Benalcazar confessed in a Galveston police station to burglarizing and murdering Blair. They arrested Parlin, the alleged get-away car driver, on a parole violation. Investigators originally said Blair knew her murderer, and they believe Parlin did yard work for Blair, but they're still not sure how he knows Benalcazar.
The Austin Police Department has not released many details, like what weapon Benalcazar allegedly used to stab Blair. They are also still investigating if there are any additional suspects, and where Blair's stolen jewelry was left.
Benalcazar should be extradited to Austin by the middle of the week.
