Akins High School students held a walkout protest Monday after police arrested a suspect accused of threatening to "shoot and blow up" the school last week.
A spokesperson with Austin ISD said the walkout started around 1:45 p.m. and that as of 3:50 p.m., students were still protesting. She said this was the only walkout reported within AISD on Monday.
The spokesperson said the protest was about stricter gun laws and not about last week's incident, citing Akins Yearbook.
