10-year-old killed in northeast Austin traffic collision identified

The 10-year-old boy dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police say.

AUSTIN — A 10-year-old boy died Saturday after being involved in a traffic accident in northeast Austin, Austin-Travis County EMS said.

On Monday, he was identified as Luis Angel Tinoco.

The accident happened on U.S. 290 service road near Texas 130, according to officials.

ACTEMS responded to the call at 10:33 a.m. and pronounced Tinoco dead at the scene. Three other people were involved in the crash and were evaluated, but did not go to the hospital.

Austin Police said that, based on preliminary investigation, a 2001 Dodge truck was traveling eastbound on the 290 service road approaching the intersection of the SH 130 service road. The Dodge ran the red light and struck a 2013 Nissan Altima on its left side. The juvenile was unrestrained in the back seat of the Nissan, police said.
