Hot spots to cool off along Austin lakes this summer

Boaters rejoice, Memorial Day weekend has arrived and boating season is about to be in full swing. Here are some places you can cool off at on the lakes.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin's lakes are a hot spot to cool off at when we move into the warmer months and along them you will find some great restaurants to pull your boat up to for a quick bite to eat and a couple of drinks.

For Lake Austin, there are a few restaurants you can check out.

Near Tom Miller Dam you will find Abel's on the Lake and Hula Hut. You will find places to park your boat on a dock right out their back door.

Both restaurants offer plenty of patio space and a large assortment of drinks to help you cool off on the hot days with people showing up in crowds.

Abel's and Hula Hut aren't the only restaurants on Lake Austin though. If you take your boat closer toward Emma Long Metropolitan Park and the Pennybacker Bridge, you will come across Ski Shores Cafe.

Ski Shores Cafe has a few slips where you can pull your boat in for a break to get a bite to eat and a few drinks.

Moving upstream from Lake Austin to Lake Travis, there are also a lot of great restaurants to choose from that you can pull up at in your boat.

The Lighthouse on the Lake offers a great spot to pull up your boat, with a large patio and plenty of outside seating, with a nice view of a cove closer to Pace Bend Park.

The Gnarly Gar is a sweet spot located on a dock where you can pull your boat basically right up to the front door.

The restaurant has a great selection of food and drinks including a store for everything you'll need when you're out on the lake.

Finally, there is Beachside Billy's Restaurant and Water Park, which offers entertainment along with food and drinks for those who are out on their boats for the day.

If you don't have a boat to take out on the lakes there are plenty of places where you can rent a boat for the day.
