Texas Health Action (THA), an Austin-based sexual wellness nonprofit, announced on Thursday that it will be opening a new Kind Clinic location in South Austin this fall.

This will mark the organization's fourth clinic location, which is the largest sexual health and wellness provider in Central Texas that provides no-cost access to the HIV prevention drug PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) as well as sexually transmitted infection treatment and testing.

A first for the Kind Clinic, the new location will have an in-house pharmacy, allowing patients to leave their appointments with medication in hand.

“Less than five years ago, a small team of passionate community members and medical providers combined forces to open Austin’s first clinic to provide PrEP,” Christopher Hamilton, chief executive officer of THA, said. “Since then, our community has grown immensely, increasing demand for sexual wellness services from providers who are culturally aware and understand the unique needs of LGBTQIA+ people and allies. We are proud to expand these services in our hometown of Austin.”

The new 6,550-square-foot clinic will be located at 2800 S. Interstate 35 in Fountain Park Plaza III. It will double the organization's capacity to provide services, which also include HIV testing and care and gender-affirming care. The new location will also allow the organization to increase its ability to train physician residents for psychiatric, internal medicine and HIV specialty care.

Additional Kind Clinic services include an on-site lab and access to on-site patient advocates, who help navigate prescription and medication management as well as any challenges with access to health care, including referrals for mental health and other services.

In addition to a San Antonio location at 722 Isom Road, the other two Kind Clinics are located at 1101 W. 40th St. #102 and 8140 N. MoPac Expressway Bld. 2, Ste. 130B in Austin.

The Kind Clinic works to provide sexual health services to all members of the community with special attention to LGBTQIA+ people and allies regardless of race, creed, gender expression or sexual orientation. For more information about their services, click here.
