Hook 'em with country music singer Ben Rue for diabetes research

Now when you share your hook 'em horns photos, your pictures will be going towards a good cause if you use the hashtag #BuckOffDiabetes.

AUSTIN — Longhorns fans -- listen up. Now when you throw up the "hook 'em" horns sign, you can help raise money for diabetes research.

County music singer Ben Rue, who's been living with type 1 diabetes for the past 16 years, teamed up with the Roche Diabetes Care, the creators of Accu-Check Guide, a blood glucose meter, to travel across the country and spread awareness about the #BuckOffDiabetes campaign.

By throwing up the horns of a bull and sharing a photo on social media with the hashtag "Buck Off Diabetes," Roche Diabetes Care will donate a dollar (buck) to several diabetes-related charities.

Rue, an Oregon native whose Back to the Nights album peaked inside the Top 12 on the iTunes Country Album charts, said since he was diagnosed with diabetes, he's tried to maintain a positive attitude to help him deal with his chronic illness. That's why he said he's traveling across the country to encourage others to get involved with the campaign.
