New UT Austin center aims to help Texas' growing elderly population

This new facility will help people learn more about the problems older Texans face such as general health, brain aging loneliness.

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas residents are getting older and the University of Texas wants to help.

UT is launching a new facility Friday called the "Texas Aging and Longevity Center."

Nearly 15 percent of Texans are ages 65 or older, and by 2040, people of that age will make up more than a fifth of the state's population.

This new facility will help people learn more about the problems older Texans face such as general health, brain aging loneliness.
