Teen named as suspect in deadly southeast Austin drive-by shooting

He was arrested about a month after the shooting happened.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department has named the teen who is accused of fatally shooting a 19-year-old in a March drive-by in southeast Austin.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on March 13 in the 2200 block of East Stassney Lane, near Interstate Highway 35, officers responded to the shooting. There, they found Oscar M. San Juan Jaimes, 19, who appeared to have been shot. Jaimes was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses told detectives the incident was a drive-by shooting and a result of an ongoing feud between known subjects. Police said Jaimes may not have been the intended target.

A 17-year-old, Francisco Jay Llanas, is accused of shooting and killing Jaimes, the Austin PD said April 20. The APD said Llanas was charged with first-degree murder on April 14. He is currently in the Travis County Jail with a bond set at $500,000.
