Authorities give description of suspect vehicle in Williamson Co. shooting

A motorist was shot in the shoulder while driving near RM 620 and SH 45 late Thursday morning.

Deputies are investigating after a motorist was shot in the shoulder late Thursday morning.

Authorities said that somewhere in Austin, the 27-year-old victim began exchanging gunfire with someone in a white Jeep. The victim was shot in the left shoulder, and pulled off in the 15000 block of RM 620, near the intersection with SH 45.

"The victim claims that he had a weapon and that he at some point threw it out of his vehicle," said Williamson County Sheriff's Office's public information officer Patricia Gutierrez. "We are unsure where the weapon could be so we're currently searching for the weapon."

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, according to officials.

Investigators don't know where the Jeep ended up. Officials believe the incident may have started as some kind of criminal activity that went bad, but the victim isn't giving them a lot of details.

"He's not being very cooperative right now with giving us more information so we're really asking the public's help if they saw anything," Gutierrez said.

Authorities are asking anyone who knows who the white Jeep belonged to or where exactly the incident started to call 911 or the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
