$1K reward offered for information in deadly drive-by shooting at Austin hookah lounge

Austin police are offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest in a deadly shooting that happened at the Paris Hookah Lounge in North Austin.

AUSTIN — A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in a drive-by shooting at a hookah lounge in North Austin that killed one person and injured two others.

Police said it happened at about 4 a.m. at the Paris Hookah Lounge on Rutland Drive in North Austin on Sept. 23. Luis Rodriguez Tamayo, 18, was sitting at a table with some friends at the Lounge when he was shot in the head. Police said he was taken to a hospital where medical staff said he was brain dead at around 2 p.m. Police said Monday that Tamayo died.

Two other people at the lounge were hit by gunfire and took themselves to the hospital. Both injuries are non life-threatening.

Police said the lounge was near capacity when the drive-by shooting happened. Police do not know how many shots were fired during the shooting.

Police do not know what the motive for the shooting is at this time and they don't know how many people were behind the shooting. Investigators are currently collecting video and going through witness statements. They do not have a description of the suspect vehicle yet.

As authorities investigate, they are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. You may remain anonymous.
