Court documents obtained by WFAA Thursday claim police found evidence of blood in Trevone Boykin’s Mansfield home, and that it was “obvious the crime scene had been cleaned.”
The former TCU and Seattle Seahawks quarterback is accused of beating his girlfriend, Shabrika Bailey, so badly she had to be hospitalized. He has been charged with aggravated assault causing bodily injury.
Details obtained from affidavits and the return from search warrants paint a violent picture of what police say occurred last week.
The arrest warrant affidavit indicates there was video evidence of the assault from inside Boykin’s home. In the document, police say they could see Bailey and Boykin arguing.
Bailey told WFAA they were arguing because she wouldn't show Boykin a text on her phone. The affidavit says Bailey threw a purse at Boykin, and he threw it back at her, striking her in the back. Boykin then allegedly grabbed Bailey by the neck area and they then both moved out of camera view.
Eventually, Boykin returns back in view of the camera, the document says, and “it appears Shabrika (Bailey) is backed up against the dresser and Boykin is seen drawing his right arm back in a punching motion.” The document notes that Boykin’s fist was closed.
The affidavit also notes that while Bailey wasn’t on camera, she said there was no one else home at the time. Police said there were no holes punched in the wall.
In the arrest warrant affidavit, police say about an hour later, the video showed Boykin dragging Bailey by her ankle or foot into the kitchen. The document says when the search warrant was executed, police saw blood on the carpet and in the kitchen, consistent with video of Bailey being dragged.
Bailey told WFAA she woke up in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor and that Boykin tried to clean her up before taking her to the hospital in Mesquite.
Bailey told WFAA her jaw was broken in three places and she lost teeth. The search warrant says police seized a bloody paper towel, along with other evidence from Boykin’s home.
Thursday afternoon, Boykin bonded out of Lon Evans Correction Center on a $25,000 bond.
Earlier this week, after losing his position on the Seattle Seahawks, Boykin released a statement saying the story was false and fabricated and he’s now suffering the consequences.
