UPS looking to hire around 600 workers in Austin area, holding virtual hiring events this week

The package delivery company is holding virtual hiring events in Austin and Round Rock.

AUSTIN, Texas — On Friday, Oct. 30, UPS will hold its annual one-day hiring blitz "UPS Brown Friday," with nearly 250 hiring fairs across the U.S., including in Austin and Round Rock.

The company hopes to sign up at least 50,000 new employees across the country that day. Most of the events will be held virtually, with applicants checking into a virtual lobby before doing interviews with UPS human resources representatives. UPS will be making job offers on the spot.

In the Austin area, UPS is hiring for about 600 positions, including driver helpers, package handlers and seasonal drivers. UPS said seasonal positions can often be a starting point for full-time positions, stating that 37% of last year's seasonal workers came back to a permanent job after the holidays and nearly a third of the company's U.S. workforce started in seasonal positions.

UPS will hold Brown Friday hiring events virtually for Austin and Round Rock on both Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Oct. 30. You can learn more about the hiring fairs here.
