Who's hiring? KVUE spoke with different local companies looking to fill jobs

An entry-level pool cleaning job pays $42,000 a year.

AUSTIN, Texas — The pandemic has caused many people to lose their job, so every Friday KVUE is highlighting businesses in our area hiring. This week we profiled Prime Pool Service and Job Finders.

"The goal is to get the pool clean, take care of the equipment and the clarity of the pool," said Prime Pool Service cleaning technician Mike Thomas.

Thomas has been working at Prime Pool Service for a year.

"You get to work by yourself, see a lot of cool places every day and drive around Austin," said Thomas. "It's the best job honestly I ever had."

The president of the company, Mike Bernoski, is hiring four entry-level pool cleaning technicians with a starting pay of $42,000 a year, with room for growth within the company. The shift is Monday through Friday.

"It's a first-shift job," said Bernoski. "We want work-life balance for our employees."

Prime Pool Service has been caring for residential and commercial pools for 12 years. During the pandemic, the company continued to employ workers.

"One main reason I love this job is because I can call anybody if I have a question or problem; anybody is there to help," said Bernoski. "We're all here to help each other out."

If you don't like working poolside, Vence Leggett is the vice president of LC Personnel Labor Finders. Every day the temporary staffing company has about 200 jobs to fill.

"We see people in between jobs. We see some people that just need to earn some extra money or they're trying to make a completely different career switch," said Leggett.

Leggett said all jobs pay $10 an hour or above. The jobs vary from hospitality to construction.

"We're so adaptable," said Leggett. "We have temporary jobs per day, per week, or we can find a whole new career path for you."
