Take This Job: Keeping kids safe as a Leander ISD crossing guard

The Leander ISD district allowed Bryan Mays to help kids cross the street at one intersection.

AUSTIN — The Leander Independent School District is one of the fastest growing districts in the state.

They will open five new schools in the next five years. Of course, that means more folks are needed not only in the classrooms but also outside the schools to keep kids safe as they walk to school each day.

The district allowed Bryan Mays to help out at one intersection and see what it takes to be a crossing guard in Leander ISD.

He got to hold the stop sign and direct the kids across the road.

The best part, though, was getting a chance to speak with the kids as their school day was just about to begin.
