Does It Work: Kobwa Electric Lunch Box

Quita Culpepper put the product to the test.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Kobwa Electric Lunch Box promises to make a fresh, home-cooked meal for you fast. You can supposedly cook things like eggs, raw chicken beef and fish, even noodles, using the power of steam!

It comes with a spoon, a tiny measuring cup, an egg holder and two stainless steel bowls.

Unfortunately, the manual was translated from Chinese to English, so the directions aren't clear. There are also no recipes included, so you have to guess what you can cook – or watch YouTube videos.

You can pack all the raw ingredients into your Electric Lunch Box, take it with you to work and put it in the fridge. Take it out, plug it in and start cooking about 20 minutes before your lunchtime.

We made rice and curry with raw beef and uncooked vegetables. In 20 minutes, the rice was perfect and the curry was more like a soup ... but everything, including the meat, was thoroughly cooked.

While it doesn't come with any recipes or clear directions, the Electric Lunch Box does let you make a delicious home-cooked meal without using the microwave. This product gets a thumbs up.
