Keep Austin Local: Vida Pura Juicery

Take steps toward a healthier diet, while also supporting local.

AUSTIN, Texas — Central Texans have seen many businesses shutting down because of the COVID-19 pandemic. KVUE wants to help "Keep Austin Local" by highlighting small businesses that might need a little help.

KVUE stopped by Vida Pura Juicery on Wednesday. The juice bar may only have a couple of years under its belt, but the owner comes from a family of East Austin business-owning Austinites.

Veronica Torres is the owner of Vida Pura Juicery. She says it was important to her to have her business in East Austin because that’s where she grew up, and that’s where her family has business.

She wanted to start a juice bar after her father, the owner of Mi Madres on Manor Road, was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Her goal was to help her father, and other Austinites, have a healthier diet.

On Facebook Torres wrote, “2020 was hard for a lot of small businesses, including mine. But [I] kept my mind clear, positive and living in the now.”

Before the pandemic, Vida Pura had events at their location including yoga demonstrations. That stopped once COVID-19 came, but they are looking forward to bringing back events once the pandemic is over.

Vida Pura has cold-pressed juices, smoothies, vegan coffee and horchata, acai bowls, avocado toast and more.

The juicery is located at 2610 Manor Road #B in Austin.
