Keep Austin Local: Take Heart

Find specially-curated gifts while supporting local.

AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting the local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.

On Wednesday, KVUE stopped by Take Heart, a shop in East Austin where you can find thoughtful and unique gifts curated by the owner, Nina Gordon.

“I select all the items myself and choose items that speak to me and are made with care and love,” said Gordon.

Take Heart sells many handmade items made by local artists and by artists around the world.

You can find ceramics, home décor, candles, kids and baby items, wrapping paper, jewelry and so much more.

Gordon wants people to know about the importance and value in supporting small businesses and artists saying, “when we shop at small businesses and with artists, we are supporting the local culture, economy, and the artists work that is sold in the shop.”

She added that shopping small and local helps creatives to keep making their art and helps keep dream businesses alive and thriving.

On Saturday, Dec. 18, Take Heart is teaming up with local bakery The Gentle Whisk and vintage vendor Muchacho Vintage from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You can find Take Heart at 1211 E. 11th St. Suite 100, Austin, TX 78702, or online here.
