H-E-B celebrates 55th anniversary of longest-tenured employee

On Saturday, H-E-B will be celebrating the 55th anniversary of the company's longest-tenured employee.

Ophie Garcia, 81, began working with H-E-B in 1965 as a member of the cosmetics department. She currently works at H-E-B Oakhill as a greeter, welcoming shoppers in both English and Spanish.

"It takes multiple generations of H-E-B Partners to make our store a success, young and old alike, new hires to seasoned professionals," said Tad Forbis, the Oakhill store director. "Ophie's dedication, institutional and customer knowledge is an important part of how we deliver top-notch service to our community. It's priceless." 

In 2019, Garcia was named to Family Eldercare's 80 Over Eighty, which celebrates Central Texans over the age of 80 who are inspiring the community.
