Round Rock kindergartners visit seniors on Valentine's Day

The students from Meridian Elementary visited the Poet's Walk Memory Care Community in Round Rock to sing and hand out handmade cards.

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Valentine's Day is a time to show our love for others.

This year, a group of kindergartners from Meridian Elementary took that concept to people they hadn't even met yet.

They sang a few songs to residents in the common area of the Poet's Walk Memory Care Community, then handed out handmade cards.

While not every student was able to make it, the group was able to hand out cards from every student.

The kids were happy to be there, and the residents were happy to see them.

"It's just nice to give cards to people and make them feel happy," some of the students said. "And to be kind."

"I tried to talk to everyone I could," a resident said. "That's just the way I am."

This is the second year that the school has done this, and the teachers are glad to see the kids thinking of others.
