Original 'Veracruz All Natural' taco truck to close in East Austin

"It's really sad to see start-ups like this get kicked out so to speak," Moughon said.

AUSTIN, Texas — A popular East Austin taco truck is getting the boot. The very first Veracruz All Natural truck is expected to close in less than 30 days.

"I mean there's so many taco places in Austin, but you come here and you will always have a line since everyone wants this place," said Lauren Hogan. Her and Garrett Moughon were out having lunch at the taco shop on Monday.

"The line is all the way up to the gate sometimes, and you have to wait 30 minutes to get a taco," Moughon said.

The two are getting their last-minute dose of tacos from Veracruz on the 1700 block of East Cesar Chavez street before they get evicted.

"It's really sad to see start-ups like this get kicked out so to speak," Moughon said.

The food truck has been at its location for about 10 years. Earlier this month owners received a letter from the landlord saying they had 30 days to move to another place.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our final business days at our E. Cesar Chavez food truck (pictured is our older truck about 5 years ago #tbt ). East Austin has been our business home now...

"Since this is the original location, there's nostalgia I can imagine," Moughon said. "It's sad to see the 'OG' Veracruz go to rest."

The Veracruz taco truck owners are now looking for another permanent location on the east side of Austin.

"This place means a lot to the people of Austin," Hogan said. "It has an Austin household name."

'Taco-bout' taking advantage of the time left before this highly sought after food truck closes down.

"Hopefully the community can rise up and support them somehow," Moughon said.

The owners of Veracruz All Natural are hoping the landlords will renew the lease to the location they've been in for more than a decade. They say they are hoping to hear from them by the end of the week.
