Come on in, the water's fine! | Barton Springs Pool reopens to public

Crews have finished the pool's annual cleaning.

AUSTIN, Texas — One of Austin's gems reopened to the public Saturday.

Barton Springs Pool reopened at 5 a.m.

A few swimmers braved the chilly morning weather and took a dip in the natural springs water.

The pool temperature wavers between 68 and 74 degrees year-round.

Competitive swimmer Peter Hewett, 12, visited Barton Springs with his family and friends.

He told KVUE what he missed about it while it was closed.

"How cold it is 'cause you can really...it's fun to get in and have to run out and get warm again and then try to get back in," Hewett said.

The pool was closed on March 4 so crews could remove gravel.
