The Austin Animal Center is out of space after bringing in 214 animals in 3 days

The center's regular kennels, holding kennels and conference room are full and they are using every pop-up kennel they have.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Animal Center said they are officially out of room.

The center said in a Facebook post Saturday that they have taken in 214 animals in the last three days.

When they had only been open an hour and a half Saturday, they had already taken in 21 animals and there was a line out the door of people bringing more in.

But the center said they have nowhere to put them.

The center's regular kennels, holding kennels and conference room are full and they are using every pop-up kennel they have.

The center is asking everyone that finds a lost animal to hold onto them for now, keep them safely contained in a room or find a friend who can keep them temporarily. You can call 311 to create a found report and join the Facebook group Austin Lost and Found Pets to post the animal's information. You can also post on Nextdoor. The center said most lost animals are picked up less than a quarter of a mile from their homes.

The center is also running their "Fur Mama's Day" adoption event Saturday and Sunday, where adoption fees are $12.

If you're not able to adopt an animal right now, you can also help by temporarily fostering one. No previous fostering experience is required.
