'Best New Artist': Austin band up against Lizzo, Billie Eilish for Grammy

Other nominees include Lil Nas X, Maggie Rogers, Rosalia, Tank and the Bangas and Yola.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin-based band Black Pumas has been nominated for the 2020 "Best New Artist" Grammy award.

The psychedelic soul group recently performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and is currently on a world tour.

Singer Eric Burton and producer and guitarist Adrian Quesada released their debut album this year, tweeting that they gained more than 10 million streams through Spotify alone.

The band will be up against major artists such as Lizzo, Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X.

Lizzo made quite the impression on austinites and visitors this year with her performances at the 2019 Austin City Limits Festival. Thousands of her fans overwhelmed the Miller Lite stage, making it near impossible to see or move.

SXSW announces artists to showcase 2020 music festival

To see the Black Pumas in action, the band will be having a free show on Nov. 29 at the Longhorn City Limits. Longhorn City Limits will take place on the northeast corner of the Texas Memorial Stadium.

Congratulations and good luck to the Black Pumas! The Grammys will be on Jan. 26, 2020.
