Austin police served McDonald's customers as part of 100 Club fundraiser

The 100 Club aims to support families of first responders killed or critically injured in the line of duty.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Police Department assistant chiefs did a different kind of job on Friday.

The South Central Texas McDonald's Co-op hosted its 18th Annual Good Friday Fundraiser benefiting 100 Club of Central Texas and surrounding communities this Good Friday.

The 100 Club aims to support families of first responders killed or critically injured in the line of duty.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, a percentage of the sales from all participating McDonald's restaurants will be donated to local 100 Clubs. APD assistant chiefs will also be working the counter and drive-thru at the McDonald's at 4501 East Ben White Boulevard at 11 a.m.

Austin Police Chief Brian Manley was seen getting fries and taking orders at McDonald's Friday.

"McDonald's in South Central Texas is a proud, honored supporter of local 100 Clubs and support their mission of providing financial assistance to the families of first responders," said Cindi Ferguson, McDonald's owner/operator. "The annual fundraiser offers the community a way to give back to those who put their lives on the line for our safety."

"The 100 Clubs of Central Texas deeply appreciates McDonald's for their continued support of our organization," said Billy Bryan, 100 Club of Central Texas' Board Chair. "We encourage everyone to join us at your local McDonald's for lunch on Good Friday to show support for these vital members of our community."

The Good Friday Fundraiser was established in 2001.
