AUSTIN, Texas — She's one of the biggest names in pop culture and she's finally in Austin! It's Cardi B, okrrrrrrt?

Though she was a little bit tardy to the Cardi party closing out Day 3 of the Austin City Limits Music Festival – she came on 30 minutes late – thousands upon thousands of fans stuck around to watch her perform her hits like “Money” and “Press.” She even performed some of the many songs she’s featured in, like Bruno Mars’ “Finesse” and Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You.”

And, after noticing a Mexican flag in the crowd, the bilingual singer went into her smash it “I Like It,” which features fellow Spanish speakers Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

“When I speak Spanish, my name is not Cardi B, it’s La Caldi,” said the New York rapper of Caribbean heritage.

On stage in bare feet and after pouring a bottle of water on herself, she said she wasn’t afraid to get “ratchet,” and she asked Austin to join her. And with songs like “Twerk” and “Backin’ It Up,” how could you expect anything less from the foul-mouthed rap star?

If you were hoping to catch Cardi B next weekend during the festival, you're out of luck as she's only playing Weekend 1. Swedish pop star Robyn will be taking her place next week. However, Cardi's only other tour date currently listed is Oct. 8 in El Paso, Texas.

From her first time in Austin on a giant stage like ACL, to ending her year of huge performances with our neighbors in El Paso, Texas is happy to be with Cardi B.

“Those will be my last shows l, cuz I’m gonna go record my f------ album,” said she told the crowd.

And her screaming fans are ready for it.

It's been two years since her breakthrough single "Bodak Yellow" made history as it quickly rose up to become the longest-running Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 by a female rapper. Since then, the New Yorker has released an album of her own ("Invasion of Privacy, 2018), has been featured on several high-profile collaborations and music videos and, heck, she's even talked politics with 2020 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

Add that to a personality that makes for TV interviews you can't turn your eyes away from, it's easy to see how this broad from the Bronx has turned Cardi B into a household name.

As we all wait to see what she does next, you can catch Cardi on the big screen with Jennifer Lopez and fellow ACL headliner Lizzo in "Hustlers." By the way, remember when we said Cardi B broke the record for the longest-running No. 1 hit? Her co-star Lizzo just did the same thing herself with her single "Truth Hurts," which oddly enough rose back into fame with her recent breakout success – it was actually released about a week before "Bodak Yellow" took the top spot.

With their staggering success, and the close proximity of Lizzo and Cardi's stages, the fellow Atlantic Records label mates raked in an unbelievable crowd to Zilker Park.

So it's safe to say, with ACL Fest booking such huge names in music in 2019, the 2020 festival is likely to be its biggest and boldest yet.
