The event was full of music performances, great food and a ton of patriotic people.

AUSTIN, Texas — Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic started in 1973 and seems to grow bigger every year.

The event features a celebration of America with fireworks and food. But the most important part is the music. This year's event featured performances from Alison Krauss, Nathanial Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Luke Combs and more.

Ray Wylie Hubbard has performed at Willie’s Picnic for almost all of its 46 years and said that it’s an honor to be able to play.

“Well, the thing about this crowd, about Willie’s crowd, is they’re so knowledgeable about who’s playing and everything. It’s like the audience becomes another member of the band," Hubbard said.

Some people traveled from across the country to attend the celebration, including Blake and Monique Wheaton.

“There’s a bunch of great artists that we’ve seen before up in Northern Illinois, that’s where we’re from. And we flew down here just to spend the day out here," Blake said.

Overall, the event is a "Willie" nice way to celebrate Independence Day.
