AUSTIN, Texas — Sarah Bryant is the executive producer of content at KVUE in Austin, Texas. She works as the liaison between the digital team and the newsroom to create daily and long-term digital strategies. Before moving into this role, Sarah worked as the executive producer for KVUE News at 10:00 p.m. for nearly two years.
Prior to working at KVUE, she worked in the number three U.S. media market for Fox 32 News as a morning news producer for “Good Day Chicago.” Sarah collaborated with writers, anchors and other producers to put together the five-and-a-half hour show. Before moving to Chicago, Sarah was the morning and noon producer for KELOLAND TV in Sioux Falls, S.D. During her two-and-a-half years there, she produced “KELOLAND This Morning,” as well as “Midday in KELOLAND” during her last year. She also did regular on-air appearances during “KELOLAND News at 10:00” to give viewers a teaser of what was coming up during the morning broadcast. Sarah and her morning team earned a regional Emmy for their groundbreaking coverage of a severe ice storm in Sioux Falls, as well as the Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in journalism.
A graduate of the University of North Texas, Sarah served as the news director for UNT’s television station, ntTV, during her senior year. A highly-motivated team leader, Sarah managed the live Nightly News broadcast and talent, 28 reporter/photographer teams, and oversaw daily news operations. Her wide spectrum of media experience includes all aspects of television production, both in front of the camera and behind the lens.
Sarah and her news team at ntTV earned three prestigious awards in 2010 for their exceptional efforts: The first place award from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) for television in-depth reporting of their Fort Hood Coverage Compilation; SPJ’s first place award for the best all-around newscast; and before graduating, a 2010 Lone Star Emmy.
Sarah also has an impressive list of internships and volunteer work experience, including a semester on the producing track at Dallas’ network affiliate, WFAA-Channel 8, and a summer internship at the Santa Monica office of Black Entertainment Television, which handled public relations for the network’s California talent, the BET Awards, and entertainment series such as “Baldwin Hills” and “College Hill 4.” While a BET intern, Sarah also participated in “Comicon 2007” in San Diego, California, and later volunteered her services at the “2007 BET Hip Hop Awards” in Atlanta, Georgia. The next year, she returned to California to assist with the “2008 BET Awards” as a volunteer.
Sarah’s accomplishments don’t stop there. Immediately after graduation, Sarah was contacted by MTV.com to cover rap sensation, Aubrey “Drake” Graham at his Dallas concert in May 2010. Her feature was published on MTV.com.
