AUSTIN, Texas — Natalie Haddad joined KVUE as a reporter in 2022.
Natalie is California born but Texas raised. She grew up in the piney woods of East Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor’s degree in radio/television broadcast journalism and public relations. There, she anchored and reported for the university’s cable channel, hosted for the school’s alternative rock radio station, and co-founded SFASU’s chapter of Her Campus – the nation’s No. 1 online magazine for collegiate women – where she worked as a staff writer and editor-in-chief.
Prior to joining KVUE, Natalie was the traffic anchor, fill-in news anchor and noon field reporter for KRDO News Channel 13 in Colorado Springs. In Colorado, Natalie covered breaking news, snow and wind events, wildfires and focused on community-heavy stories such as local businesses and economy, housing and affordability, homelessness, foster care and feature pieces.
Before this, Natalie had a brief stint in hospital public relations, where she reported from the inside of one of Dallas’s most COVID-packed hospital systems. There, she wrote articles, worked with local officials and television stations and shot footage from the frontlines of the pandemic. Additionally, Natalie is a former general assignment reporter for KFDM News in Beaumont, Texas, and has worked as a producer for the CW39 in Houston and Fox 4 News in Dallas.
Natalie didn’t always know she wanted to be a journalist, having spent many years on the theatre stage acting or singing and playing her piano. In what she calls a “soul-searching moment,” Natalie thought back to evenings spent on the couch with her parents watching their local ABC station. Rewind further, she remembered how she favored English classes and essays, loved writing for her high school newspaper and, how many years prior to that, she wrote stories for her elementary school’s newsletter. Now, Natalie doesn’t take for granted the opportunity to tell stories in her community – valuing the trust given to her to deliver factual and honest reporting. It is her greatest joy to connect with viewers using visual mediums and impactful storytelling that viewers can relate to and empathize with.
When she isn’t working, Natalie loves to be outside and active, whether it’s hiking, being on the water, practicing yoga or even picnicking! She also enjoys attending live music and sporting events (go Mavs!). Traveling is her greatest extravagance (when she’s able to do so), as well as spending time with her Mexican mother, Lebanese/Armenian father, her older brother and sister, and her twin brother.
