AUSTIN, Texas — Shane Hinton joined the KVUE staff as a meteorologist in November 2020. Throughout his time at KVUE, he helped people get their weekend started on Daybreak. In October 2022, Shane was promoted as the new Daybreak weekday meteorologist.

Shane was born in Princeton, North Carolina, and earned both his meteorology degree and a Master of Professional Science degree in broadcast meteorology from the University of Miami.

Shane's passion for meteorology started back in middle school during an after-school science competition. It was also during this time he discovered an interest in public speaking and participated in local, regional and national competitions.

During his time at the University of Miami, Shane helped conduct research with the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science on hurricane forecast model accuracy. He also completed an internship at WTVJ, where he conducted research on daily forecasting model accuracy for South Florida.

Shane joins KVUE after working as a weekend and midday meteorologist at WCTI in New Bern, North Carolina. While in North Carolina, Shane provided Emmy-nominated coverage for Hurricane Florence in addition to covering Hurricane Dorian and Hurricane Isaias.

When Shane isn't in the studio, he can be found at a local movie theater, running, or spending time with his dog, Stratus. He is excited to explore Central Texas and looks forward to trying out all the different kinds of cuisine.

You can reach out to Shane on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
